  • Hi,

I thought it was time to inform you all that there is a new version available of GPSAssist. I will not list all feature here but only the latest most important additions:

    - Integrated OV2 support

    - POI Detector (warning) with options like first/last warning distance, alert sound per type of POI, speed warning.

    - POI Manager which allows you to manage your POI Lists and at the same time have them synchronized with corresponding OV2 files (totally automatic)

    - Point to Point navigation

    - Automated volume control (based on speed)

    - ...

you can look at the complete list of features at GPSAssist features

    Cheers,
    Jo.

  • I have tried the GPSAssist. A couple of times I had application errors with TomTom Navigator while using GPSAssist. The uninstall of GPSAssist had given me some problems. At this moment I use the POI warner.

Ich habe die demo ausgeprobiert. Ich habe verschiedene male eine error gehat. Jetzt benutze ich POI Warner. Sehr zufrieden.

    • Offizieller Beitrag

    Hi,

  • hey, @oschein:

    bab hihihihi
    aba baaald

  • It's indeed a fact that GPSAssist is consuming more resources than POI Warner. This is partly due to the fact that GPSAssit is written in eVB for 90% (plans are to more to 100% eVC++) but also because GPSAssist has more functionality than POI Warner.

Just like GPSAssist, POI Warner is doing a great job where POI Detection is concerned if that is the only thing you want.

    Cheers,
    Jo.

  • Hi,

Reading the responses in this thread it seems that some people have a hard time with the user interface as it was implemented. So improvements have been made to the graphical user interface for the POI Manager.

You can look at some screenshots on the website

    Thanks,

  • Hi Jo,

    looks better, but some coments:
I got a lot of errors installing the update.

GPSAssist installs its link to 'Start Menu', german PPCs use 'Startmenü'.

It takes a long time to load GPSAssist.

My overlay-files and the maps als well as TTN (only GPS in PPC-menory) are stored on the 2GB-Toshiba in the PCMCIA-Jacket. I cant access the overlays! I cant set a path to my internal SD or CF/HD in the jacket. Can I use only new overlays/POIs created with GPSAssist?

When choosing Contacts in the Menu I only get a choice of the TomTom-Favorites, not my PIM-Contacts.

When I create a new POI-file with GPSAssist and want to store it on my HD, I cant choose a directory on the HD. I still see only the directories of my internal memory.

    regards Karl
