JVC KD-NX901 - Alles was ihr darübüer wisst!!!

  • hallo,

    @zaubii

    @alle

    Vielen dank euch allen

  • Hello,

does someone have pictures of this unit (day/night)?

  • Okay nice, there isnt much yet to find over this device, yeah only here in a german forum what is hard to read for me but i try :)

    Thanks already!

  • Feel free to contact me if you have further questions - I can translate them and post them in here, if I don't have an answer...

in general, this device is really smart, but there are some features which are not that good developed / included.

    Where are you from?

    Chris

  • I'm from holland, and i'm currently looking wich navi to buy. First i wanted the avic-x1r with cd changer and ipod interface, but then i didnt read some good messages about that ipod connector. This device is very nice because you dont have to swap cd's/dvd's and it has some nice space to put you music on and its about 1000 euro's cheaper.!

  • And can you please tell what things arent good developed/included? And what about that heat problem?

  • There is no heat problem. Quite the contrary, my unit does not become very hot.

One problem is, that MP3s and WMAs are always played from the begining. On traffic information or if you turn the unit of or so, the actual title does not start from the position, where it was stopped, it always starts from the begining.

Another thing is the handling at all. In most cases its OK and easy. But some functions can not be raeched very logical. On the other hand, the unit has less buttons.

  • okay, but if the navigation says, turn right in 400 mtr, then the song that is played is restarted or something? But about the heat thing, i didnt mean the device is getting hot, but i've read somewhere that the device shouldnt be turned on below xx degrees or above xx degrees.

  • nono - the device keep playing the songs when it tells you where to drive - that would be horrible if it doesnt. - somebody was in contact with JVC regarding the so called heat problem. What they said in the manual was false - so it is working as a normal radio should. No problems discovered the past days, and it was really hot. more then 70 degrees celsius in the car (black car, parked in the sun... windows closed. but even in this condition, the radio started to work properly.... so....

    chris

  • Alright then :) But should you recommend it? Is the SD-card functionality OK? I'll think i'm gonna buy it one of these days because the car-dealer wants to have it to build in into the car when it arrives..

  • Yes, for that price, I recommend it. THe SD Card thing works could, even though it takes quite a long time to copy a gigabyte card to the hdd...

Another thing that is normal for car-radios, but jvc had this problem not with earlier models like the KD-SH909R: If the radio finds another radio broadcasting station, that broadcasts the same station on a diferent frequency - then the radio switches to that station, if the signal is stronger. so while it is switching, you can hear a slightly gap. verry short. but in older models, they made it, that there is no gap at all, due to a fading with two tuners....

but, most of the things I am complaining about are only visible to me, because my former radio was somehow better developed. I think JVC will include or improve some of the features of this radio - if it is possible and if enough ppl write them their oppinions...

  • @supertux

I took some pictures of the unit built into my GolfV and uploaded them to:
    http://www.parallelraum.de/jvc/
The Frame is the original VW-Frame and the GPS-Receiver is installed invisible somewhere in the Dashboard (it works very good) .

As you may see on the pictures, the colors match good to the Golf-colors. You may also notice the little bit too bright white buttons when its dark.

Up to now, I would buy this device again, playing MP3-DVDs while navigating whole europe from the Harddisk works very good and was exactly what I was looking for. Anyone who wants to buy my now retired iPod? ;)
