Atmos VDO-Pn6000 EXtended Menu (Beta release )

  • If port splitter doesn't work the GPS port in MN7 must be "com 0" if port splitter is active must be "com 5"

If you don't want use Port splitter change this string

    <GPSPort>1</GPSPort>

    in

    <GPSPort>0</GPSPort>

    in version.xml

Naturally if you want use the original vdo software without my menu you simply use the button "delete registry" and turn Off-On

Hovewer the beta2 with several improvements is incoming I suggest to wait :gap

Maybe yes but I need time... ;)

  • Hello atmos,

i am really amazed about your work...great!

Please don't forget my issue about running Igo8 in the original menu :) Ok, sorry, i am really impatient :)

  • OK, I think I have to wait - cause GPS won't work with me. Also the GPS Port can't be set in version.xml. In my version.xml there is no GPS at all. - Only in settings.xml

At the moment I don't use MN7 but you can try to change GPS port in setting.xml in "com 0"

  • Hello,
@ JEWUWA I had the problem with the connection gps it did not then I handed the original version, then I connected the original Software gps. Once obtained the reception I reinstalled the new menu Atmos without putting the matter Harbor Splitter and MN7 find satellites.

PS:Hoping in beta 2 of Atmos

  • I think I give up!

I tried now almost every GPS setting - no chance.

I will see what the next release will bring - maybe this will solve my problem.
Right now - I do not get GPS with my original VDO SD-Card - I do get GPS only with atmos menu but not for MN7.

  • Put GSfinger renowned VDOService.exe and install it on the Secure Digital card MN7. Reset the PN 6000 and démarer MN7. When satellites operate redo the installation menu without Atmos file Port Splitter

You must use the "delete registry" button in my menu (system page) then turn Off, put the original vdo Sd and turn ON...

  • Here we go!

This is my Atmos VDO-E-M Beta2:

This extended menu work with the original VDO software, permit to use another navigation software at the same time because I have managed to split the Gps signal in other ports and permit to use all the original software (like dvb-t ) without problems.
To try to avoid problems this menu work with a copy of ResidentFlash files in our memory card, will work also with the original path residentflsh and probably with this option device should be faster but for now it's better this way, maybe for a "Final version" I'll share a version that work with the real ResidentFlash.
For this reasons do not extract your memory card when device is on.

Remenber this seems a stable version but is however a beta version, use to your own risk and report your feedback.

    Best initial loading routine
    More simple installation
New "sensitive" button (with security prompt) that active-disactive VDO original software navigation to save ram
New "sensitive" Registry button (with security prompt)
New Icons more Similar to original (thanks CLOSy)
New gps split programs (that seems works well and resolve Igo gps problem)
    Several other improvements

In Original Vdo software (you must use vdo skin " Ipo2" in Setting>>Screen>>Colors>>Ipo2 to have a skin correspondence with the Atmos VDO-E-M)

    [Blockierte Grafik: http://img65.imageshack.us/img65/463/54000591la9.jpg]

Navigation page: in this page there's a "VDO icons" this button active-disactive original VDO navigation software, in fact rename (with a security question) the original VDO maps, with this hack VDO original navigation software don't work (because don't finds maps) but uses much less ram.
(useful if you don't want use VDO original navigation software but with the original VDO launch software)
If you have renamed the folders, using the same button navigation folder will renamed to its original name (you must Off/On device then)

    Multimedia page:

    [Blockierte Grafik: http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/2996/68685502by9.jpg]

Application page: the gps split programs runs automatically but i leave a "Gps Port" button that launch the new gps splitting software, you can change setting but i suggest to leave everything as set.

Now you can connect several gps software to GPS port "com 1" (in some software "virtual port com 0") and use software like PoiObserver with the original VDO navigation softaware, if you deactive the new splitting gps software you can use GPS port "com 0" but VDO original navigation software will not work.

    [Blockierte Grafik: http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/9080/99271298jw4.jpg]

System page: the button "Registry" now changes the initial loading routine to "installation-mode" (more simple) to "normal-mode" (more light) and return in "installation-mode" if there are some registry problem.

Delete registry button cleans registry, if turn Off device, then remove the SD with Atmos VDO-E-M (or insert the original SD) and turn ON your VDO return like an original (Note that every not original program used usually leaves small traces in the registry).

Obviously, if some programs don't work you'll need to put programs and links that I have not put in this Package.

    Installation:

    The installation is more easy:

    1) Copy on the root of your memory card the files content in "Atmos VDO-E-M" folder (if you have other software folder you can leave).

1b) Obviously if you want use the original VDO navigation software , copy the content of the original VDO SD in the SD you are using.

    2) Copy the ResidentFlash in a folder in the root of memory card with the same name ("ResidentFlash") , if you have not access to this folder you can copy the folder after with the menu installed (4b).

    3) Reset and Turn On device, do no touch anything before all the programs are loaded.

    4) You should see the original software and a little yellow button in top right, ok to the VDO warning page, set in the original software: Setting>>Screen>>Colors>>Ipo2 to have a skin correspondence with the Atmos VDO-E-M.

4b) If you have not previously copied ResidentFlash to your sd, you can use Total Commander in "application page" to do this

    5) If menu run (when you click on little yellow button in top right menu is visualized) use "registry" button in "system page" the Ok and set the sistem in "normal-mode" Turn OFF (with a prolongued pressure of on/off button)

Note: if you have changed some registry keys you can use again "registry" button that switch initial routine to "installation-mode".

Note: With beta2 release you not need to rename in the root of your memory new-vdoservice.nfrun in vdoservice.nfrun because there's the "registry button" , when you click this button new-vdoservice.nfrun is renamed in vdoservice.nfrun and vdoservice.nfrun is renamed old-vdoservice.nfrun (switch in normal-mode), if button is still used the old-vdoservice.nfrun is renamed in vdoservice.nfrun and vdoservice.nfrun is renamed in new-vdoservice.nfrun (return to "installation-mode) you can see your actual mode (normal or installation) with a security prompt that appears first.

This new installation is useful for people who have used other application like systeminformation or have used the MC-VDO because the firts installation clean and rewrites all registry keys.

I've not a TMC/Bluetooth cradle and I can't test but i think that there's a way to use TMC with others navigations software, if someone want test with me I'll try to resolve also this issue.

Like all Beta versions there's probably some adjustments to be done like the standby-turn off" command that i've disconnected because not work perfectly, (restart seems to work ok) or GPStacho software, please report your feedback or problems in this topic.

P.s. with the new CLOSy project of a new skin for our VDO, probably we try to create a menu that meet this new skin.
