probablu asked before but ...

  • My question has been asked before, but searching for me in German is difficult.

For me is the basemap BeNeLux, so that one is in detail. But if I have to go to Dortmund (Westfalenhallen) next week, can I add a piece of Germany which is in detail as well ? Or is only "Europe major roads" possible in foreign countries ?
Of course doing so with map export.

  • Hi tootje,

you can use the Europe major roads for bordercrossing navigation to your destination.
When you are approaching your destination and about to leave the major roads you will have to change to the detailed map of your destination.
You can create a map of your own by using mapexport to define the part of the map you would like to have.
However it is impossible to combine two or several separate maps to one piece, so that you could navigate across the borders.
You must have all of the required maps on your memorycard, so that you can change to the map which is needed.

    regards

    Harald

  • Ok, but what then is the use that you can make yourself some maps ?
That you make that map in 1 country and not crossborder ?

First of all, sorry for my terrible englisch ...

The word "länderübergreifend" to the Board Medion 95000 would input once in the search and you get a quantity at answers. The day certainly not will pass, for one of that is frequently asked question at that. If you can read german, test ist ...

Wherein the sense lies, that one own cards can generate. Over sense and nonsense, one can fight. But if you have only a 256 MB large card and would like to navigate also to the vacation target, makes it to produce thoroughly sense littler cards cuts. You can buy a large 1 GB card, but also here the boundary is reached quickly, there the total cards 2,5 GB comprises.

  • Hi tootje,

if you have the European maps on CD it won't be a probloem to create a map containing parts of Benelux and Germany using the tool map-export from your PC.

You start it and go to the menu point "create a new map"/ "neue Karte erstellen" "ein beliebiges Rechteck ausschneiden" and follow the steps...

To bring your map to your SD-Card I would recommend using a card-reader instead of ActiveSync. It's faster.

For further questions, don't hesitate to ask... ;D

  • Hi,
I'm living in Duisburg, near to Netherlands, and Belgium is closer than many parts of Germany, too. Here's what I did:

    1. Created a map from the base map Germany covering (roughly) the North-West of Germany.
    2. Created a map from BeNeLux-MRE with the parts I plan to use (complete NL, parts of BE) and the MRE part of NW-Germany.

These both maps fit on the 256 MB card, so there is no need to buy a new one.

So in your case you could do something similar: Take Germany-MRE and BeNeLux and create two maps that fit on your card. When going to Dortmund, use your Germany-MRE map, it will lead you via MR's to your destination, where you will have all the details you need (you should be able to find an MR near your home :)

Unfortunately it is not possible to create your own map based on two base maps. Don't try unless you've got plenty of time...

By the way, you can't miss the Westfalenhalle, just follow the A40/B1 until you see it (or the signs).

You can´t miss it, it´s the great hall near the A40/B1 with a large "U" on the roof. And if you want to visit it next week, you´ll see a lot of motorcycles there, because the exhibition "Motorräder 2005" starts next Wednesday.

    Best regards

  • Thanks to you all for your prompt answers, and helping me out in English !!

länderübergreifend in a search engine gave me a lot of infos, I'll try to read them.

And it is to "Motorräder 2005" in the Westfalenhalle that I want to go!

    Chuss und vielen dank !!!!
