Md 96710 Problem

  • Hi to all,
I have a problem with my medion.
It got it as gift a few months ago. I have used IGO as navigation software and everything was fine.
The pocket pc worked fine from Romania to Belgium. First time the software died and i made a reset from the reset button on the right. The medion started again and worked almost 1 hour. The next timp when the soft died the reset didn`t worked and since then every time i try to start, it frezes to the blue screen with the trafic lights and the bottom text "Mobile Navigationsystem"
I don`t know german but i manage to translate some topics about the hard reset but didn`t work.

    Can anyone help me?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Hi,
I believe, there is only one way to solve your problem: hard-reset:
    - open the covers of the battery box and remove the battery pack
    - keep the push-to-talk-button pressed (do not only press briefly!)
    - shift the main switch (at the top of the battery box) to "Off" and shift back to "on" after about 2 seconds
    - replace the battery pack and close the cover
    - now release the push-to-talk-button (note: in this item the manual is wrong)

After this procedure you have to install your private programs again.

Please give feedback, if you were succesfull.

  • as I can see at your first picture (upper / right edge), you booted your PNA without replacing the cover of the battery-pack compartement. this is very important: 1. replace the cover, 2. release the push-to-talk-button, 3. reboot

  • The pictures are made after i tried like you said so.
I have removed the battery pack.
    I have pressed the push-to-talk-button.
I shifted the main switch to "off" for 2 seconds, then back to on.
I have replace the battery pack and closed the cover. (after i replace the battery pack the medion started with the "loading.." text )
    I have released the push-to-talk-button.

    You said "3. Reboot"
    How can I do that?

  • no: I ment, as "3rd step" to reboot. to reboot just press "On" at the left/lower edge of the PNA

but: at the picture I can see the cover of the battery-compartement, resting at the deck. at the same picture the PNA is in the booting sequence. so the cover of the battery compartement was not replaced before rebooting. isn´t it?

  • The first pictures were taken after i tried to do the HARD RESET.

Now I have tried again and i have taken some other pictures.

The PNA is allways on with that blue screen. You can see in the first picture.
I have removed the cover and the battery pack (pic 3).
    I pressed the push-to-talk-button (pic 4)
I shifted the main switch to "off" for 2 seconds, then back to on. (pic 5)
I have replace the battery pack and closed the cover and i`m still pressing the push-to-talk-button (pic 6)
I released the pus-to-talk-button and pressed the "On" botton (pic 7)
The PNA returned to the initial state (pic 1) with no changes.

Maybe i did something wrong or maybe the HARD RESET doesnt work on my PNA.

    Thanks.

  • this form of hard reset is the most powerfull process to re-animate the PNA. I do not have any other suggestion. so write an email to medion support center. the best will be to send back the PNA for analysing / repair / replacement.
    good luck

  • at the back of the battery cover is a little pin which fits to a micro-switch at the PDA. Sometimes this pin is broken so the micro-switch can not operate. The PDA does not notice, that you have closed the battery cover.
    Pls check this.
