Twilight - PocketPC an Tageszeit anpassen

  • Ralf,

On januari 20st, you compared the original logfile to the file created by Twilight.

I think, this comparison has been done on the next version of Twilight?

About compression: In Memory Map, tracking can be limited with the following adjustable parameters:

    1. Minimum distance between log-points
    2. minimum time between log-points
    3. Maximum number of tracking-points

If one drives in a straight line, you could store only 2 points. But if I make stops to take landscape-pictures, it would be nice to have the intermediate points also, to check the location of the picture later.

In what format will the compressed logfile appear? Till now, I convert the NMEA log-file with GPSBabelGUI to the .GPX-format, wich can be imported in Memory Map.

Your answer may be in German, I can't write in German, reading will do.

    Hi You-again,

Yes, this is not in the downloadable version yet.
I think the comparison was made Jan 20.

    At my compression...

There is no true limit, thus every point at every second could be saved but than the compression is much less (13 Bytes per point). With the following conditions the compression is up to 1000x (4 Bytes per saved point) compared to a standard NMEA log.

    1. Min distance between points 6 meters
    2. Min time betw. points 3 seconds
    3. With a mem consumptoin of 2k per 100km drive, a max point limit does not make sense
    4. Max distance betw. pts: 3500 m
    5. Max time betw pts: 3min, 9sec
    6. Max dist anywhere from the true track (excl. Altitude): 5 meter
    7. Max Altitude difference betw points: 100 meter

So if you stop at a point for a little more than 3 min you will have an extra record.

It's proprietary. I am cooperating with the maker of ITNConv and LogConv to supports .ttl format.

  • When I try to use the option gps-log, my screen freezes. The LED still keeps flashing and the navigation-voice keeps telling me the right instructions. It's only the screens that freezes. When I then open, for example, my calender and close it again, than I got my navigation screen back.
When I reset my device, I do have a log-file.
Is there a conversion tool so I can visualize the log-file in Google Earth?

  • Hallo Ralf,

    Ergebnis des Tests:

POI-Warner und TT6 funktionieren zusammen fehlerfrei.
Twilight und TT6 funktionieren zusammen fehlerfrei.

Twilight POI-Warner und TT6 zusammen geht nicht.

Habe Die Maus auf COM9 gelegt. LOG anbei.

    Gruß und Dank im Voraus

  • Ralf,

    Thanks for the fast respons!

    But I have a problem:

When I use Twilight on my IPAQ 2210 with Adapt BT GPS, it starts up and closes as usual (only TT5.51 starts and stops as intended in my twilight.txt).

When I start a log and stop it a minute later, its still OK.
But when I close TT, Twilight closes TT OK, but shows the following:

    1. SETTINGS (never asked for it, but checking in memory for running tasks, there is no program in memory at that moment)

    after closing follows:
    2. FIND (think explorer)

    after closing follows:
    3. PROGRAMS

    after closing follows:
in the bottomline : "New Edit View Tools"
This bottomline is screen-garbage, wich is cleared and stays clear if I start for example a calculator and stop it again.

    Hi Jorisx,

This is a known problem at TTN6. The next Revision of the tool will have a fix. For now, please press the hardware "Today" button or open any other Window, than press the Twilight button again.

TomTom should be back to normal operation.

The current log file is standard NMEA. It is a 1-to-1 copy of the data coming from the GPS receiver.

  • I am not familiar with a version 5.51. Is this a special edition?
The settings screen, what are the settings for?

Are you using the latest Twilight version?
    How do you launch Twilight2?

    What is (FIND)?
It may be that a dialog box was open that blocks other windows to appear in the list of running apps.

When pressing the "Today" button, does the strange behaviour stop?

FYI: Although not reported by task managers, there is a lot running at all times on every Pocket-PC.

    Just to demonstrate...

After a softreset try the following...
    Start->Programs
(don't close the window, but open another one on top...)
    Start->Settings->System->Memory->Running Programs
There is no "Programs" nor multiple "Settings" entries, right? - But the windows are still there - you will see.

    Press ok.

The previous Settings screen shows up. Press 'X'
    Programs shows up.

In the current downloadable Twilight2 I use a system application to switch on BT at startup. Because I don't want this app to show up, I put the previously active Window in Foreground. This could be any window including a hidden one.

At shutdown, TomTom closes and it may be that another Window is open than you expect. In the next revision all BT stuff is reconstructed. No need for the system app. So also no need to bring a unknown Window to foreground.

I hope that the other functions work ok.

  • Hi Michael,

    Poste mal Deine usedoptions

  • Ralf,

Sorry for the typo, but I use TT 5.21.

What I mean is, that after closing the log and after that TomTom, it is showing all kinds of programs after eachother.

It starts with the program "settings": its not only a screen, but you can actually use this "system>settings"

The same with the "find": not only a screen, but launched the "explorer".

All this only shows up when I started en stopped the log. If I do not use the log-function, then its allright! (AND THANK YOU FOR THAT)

Edit: For your information: I use a button in my Today-menu to startup Twilight2, not a hardware-button. Auto-off is disabled in twilight.txt

    This is a bit weird.....
