W203/2001 APS30 and Becker CD Wechsler 2662

  • Hello everyone

My german is limited so I write in english
But please feel free to answer in german.

    I have a 220CDI W203/2001 with a APS10 Radio installed.

I have purchased a APS30 on eBay and I have now realized from this forum that it can be several different models, and the seller doesn't write which model it is but he claims that it's an original mercedes-benz APS30.

I have also purchased a Becker silverstone 2662 CDchanger which I intend to connect to the APS30.
However now I see that this is not that simple and requires a special cable.
    The seller has written this

Der 6 fach CD Wechsler passt an MercedesBenz Radios mit Lichtwellenleiter Wechslersteuerung D2B
Das Wechslerkabel wurde angepasst für MercedesBenz Audio 10 CC + CD / Audio 30 / APS 30 / Command etc.
I hope this means that the cable already has been modified, but my german is not good enough to see the difference?

    So my question is:
Will the radio work in my W203?
Do I need to have the APS30 Enabled on a Mercedes workshop so I can see it on the dashcomputer?
Will I be missing any signals in the wirring loom, e.g. the Rûckfarth signal?
Do I need to have the CD changer enabled or modified in anyway?
Or is this all plug and pray (sorry play) ;)

    best regards
    Henry

  • Hi Wenni

Thanks for you reply, no I understand you just fine. I have done some more research here in this forum (just found it today :( )
I have discovred that I cannot use this APS 30 which I bought at eBay since it's not the 4710, 4717 or 4718, pretty easy to see when you just know what to look for

Too bad I didn't find this web site before I bought that GPS. I'll put it up for sale and buy another one once it's sold.

The CD Changer, I'll just have to see since the 2662 with at few modifications should work.

It seems I'm simply too naive when I'm trading on eBay, believing what it says and not checking it before bidding.

  • Hello again

Just wanted to tell you that I have been very lucky today, first I realized that I have bought the wrong navigator for my W203 on eBay (my mistake  ).
Second when I contacted the seller and told him my problem, he offered me to swop the wrong APS for a 4717 which is perfect for my car, even for the same price, really nice of him to "fix" my mistake 8)
Needless to say that I'm really happy :D

    best regards

  • Hello again

No, I cannot really blame the seller, it was all my fault.

Anyway, I have now received the APS30 and the Becker 2662, and after a few hours of working it's all up and running :D

I do have a few questions though.

    1. What is the servicemenu keycombination on the APS30?
    2. How/where do I increase the Navigation sound level?
    3. I don't get any navigation on the cockpit display, but I can see the number of the active CD in the CD changer. How can I activate the Nav information on the cockpit?

    regards
    Henry

  • Hi

I have been at the MB workshop and they have programmed the computer so I now get the Nav information on the boardcomputer :D :D He also did som programming of the radio so it knows in which car it's installed.

Works very well, but not nearly as good as my Streetpilot 2610, it's very handy to have a real build-in solution rather than a portable solution.

    regards
    Henry

  • 1.: I don't know.

2.: Turn the volume-button louder when Susi is talking.

3.: Already answered, MB has to set via Star-Diagnosis Navi to "available".

    regards
