folgt man der nur auf der englischen Supportseite vorhandenen Anweisung auf

bekommt man wieder 8.371 installiert.

Error 1008 after updating GO x40 LIVE
If you updated your GO x40 LIVE to application version 9.054,
your GO may no longer be able to receive LIVE Services. Your GO can not
connect to the network of our provider (error 1008).
To solve this, we recommend that you install the previous application
version 8.371. Remove the application currently installed on your GO
using TomTom HOME. HOME will then offer the previous application
version.
Attention: Once the previous application is installed, HOME will offer the new application. Do NOT install that application.
Follow these steps:
- Connect your GO to your computer and start TomTom HOME.
- In HOME, click Manage my GO.
- Select the Items on device tab and then select Applications.
- Click Remove items from device.
- Select the Items on computer tab and then select Applications.
- Click Remove items from computer.
- Click Update my GO.
- Make sure the application is selected, then click Update and install.
Attention: Only install the application once!
HOME will offer an application a second time. Do NOT install that application.
