Routing problem / Nächstes Fahrmanöver Problem

  • Sorry for using English - my German is too limited.

I really want to see how many other people have this problem with the Z100 crocodile.

If you look at the attached image you will see that the small "next turn display" in the bottom left corner does not match the map display. This error only occurs for roundabouts, not for crossroads or left/right turns. The roundabout exit shown in the bottom left almost always wrong, but the moving map and voice directions are correct (so this is not a map data problem).

I have been in touch with Becker and they are "looking in to it". I also found that someone else on this forum has seen the same problem, but the link no longer works and I can't find it again. Becker have replaced my hardware once and that did not solve the problem. I hoped that SR2 would fix it, but I still have the fault and it is still on every roundabout.

I still use the device, but have to watch the moving map display rather than the simpler next turn icon.

Has anybody else seen the fault or worked out how to fix it?

  • To help explain the picture - the device is correctly trying to make me do a full 180degree turn at the roundabout and go back the way I have come (which is why the red route goes up the roundabout and back) - the next turn display want me to go slightly right.

  • Hi,

I have no Z100 but Z201 (same SW)

Let´s try to rebuilt the Failure at my Device.

I would need Adresses starting from - to. and the Position of this Roundabout.

Also attach a Screenshot of Information from Systeminformation to see which Release is on your Device installed.

Talk to you later - Duke2

  • Hi "pwhiffin",

I also own a Z100 and so far I have not recognized the concern you described. However, so far I only used my navigation system in Germany may be a couple times in the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg.

The only concern I found on one specific roundabout is that it is asking me to make a funny 450° turn ;( in stead of using the right turn bypass.

    Regards
    Ingo

  • I have got SR2 installed now, but had the same problem with the original software and SR1. I run the Joshua skin, but have tried it with and without this.
I have also had my hardware changed and had the same problem.

To see if you get the same problem:
If you set up a route simulation to run from Overseal (Derbyshire UK) to Burton upon Trent it will take you along the A444 and several roundabouts. Watch the next turn indicator in the bottom left and compare it to the voice guidance and the map. The voice guidance and map will show the correct route, the next turn display gets all roundabouts wrong (you should notice it doesn't match the map/directions). There are about 6 roundabouts on this route and all of them are wrong (especially the last few).

I have tested it on many routes and found that the positions of the exits (all the exits, not just the exit you need to take to follow the route) are not at the correct angles. I think there is something wrong with the angle calculation, because although it looks random the same roundabout is always wrong in the same way.

    For example:
Take a normal roundabout with 4 exits - exit 1 at 90deg left (in the uk anyway), exit 2 straight on (180deg), exit 3 at 90 degrees right (270deg) and exit 4 back the way you came (360 degrees). By experimenting on a particular roundabout with routes that would take me onto each of the 4 exits it can be shown that exit 1 is shown at 300 degrees, exit 2 at 5 degrees, exit 3 and 350 degrees and exit 4 at 120 degrees. This will be fixed for this roundabout, so it is always wrong in the same way. Each roundabout will be wrong in a different way, but will always be fixed.

  • Guys I have found the report of a similar problem (there is another screen picture here showing the same issue)

    [Z201] Kreisverkehr Anzeige

It is not clear if he ever got the problem fixed, but there seems to be a suggestion the error only occurs when driving on the left (so roundabouts are taken clockwise not anti-clockwise) which may mess up the angle calculation.

Have any of you driven in the UK and seen the problem but not seen it in Europe??

  • I am sorry to reopen an old thread, but I am experiencing the exactly same problem explained here:

"Next turn display" shows different indication that the moving map and voice instructions when entering a roundabout. The indicated exit is wrong in "next turn display", the other two (voice and map are correct).

I have a Z201 with SR3, Joshua skin and maps Q1-2010. I live in Spain ( turning roundabouts in the anti-clockwise direction).

It is a big problem for me, as contradictory indication can lead to loose concentration on the driving...

Did anybody suffer this same problem and found a solution?. Any help will be appreciated.

  • Further info:

No it has never been fixed. Becker are no help - I have given them videos and photos of the problem and they say they will look into it, but nothing ever comes back (customer service is rubbish).

It is nothing to do with the skin (I have tried lots and the standard skin). None of the updates have fixed it. I simply do not use the next turn display now.

I have tried it on the continent - roundabouts still do not work - so it is nothing to do with driving on the left in the UK.

I have lost faith in Becker and will not buy another product from them.

  • In my case, the indication sometimes is wrong, and sometimes is OK, but the number of wrong directions display is very high (not attributable only to map encoding errors).

I have been checking all the .ui files in the data.zip that draw the "next turn display", but it seems that there are no errors.

Anyway, as you say, it is a shame that Becker do not put any effort to solve important customer problems (imagine if you are driving in "turn by turn" mode, where you can see only the arrows... ?( ).

Finally, I cannot trust in next turn indication, so I ignore it at the moment, but as it is a useful information, I would like to have it, but been confident in the data (double checking with the map needs more atention to the display than to the road  ).
