aus: Bekomme iGO 8.3 (Asus 632N) nicht mehr ohne TMC zum Laufen

  • Hello,

    I have an Asus A696 PDA (with WM6) and IGO 8.3.2 software.

    I bought a GNS TrafficBox FM9 ASUS A686 / A696 for my device, in order to have TMC, because I don't have FM radio on it, but I couldn't manage to make it working with the IGO navigation software.

    In fact in the TMC auto-scanning IGO finds with or without your cable the GNS protocol but it is searching just till the COM-3 port and then it quits...

    Could you help me on this issue please, or advise me if I need to install some additional applications before and which pilotes or applications?

    Thanks in advance.

    My English is very poor but I'll try to help you.

    Search on your SD-Card for iGO8 folder. Open the sys.txt an add these command lines:

    [tmc]
    port="COM,5"
    source="gns"
    gps_source=1

    [gps]
    port=5
    baud=38400

    I don't know your TMC and GPS ports for sure. Please insert the right number. Most of Asus PDAs are working with port 5.

    Save the sys.txt and restart your device. Now it should work.

    Regards

  • Hello,

    Thank you so much for your answer.

    In fact, I forgot to mention that I already tried these lines you suggested in the sys.txt file, but the TMC device is still not recognized...

    I also tried the following, without succes:

    [tmc]
    saved_config_available="1"
    saved_config_classname="GNS_GPSTMC_SOURCE"
    saved_config_portname="COM"
    saved_config_port="5"
    auto_tuning="1"
    saved_last_frequency="1080"

    It seems to me, that you know the Asus A696 PDA. Did you managed ever work the TMC with the GNS FM9 Trafficbox cable and under IGO 8.3.2?

    I also found on this forum the following suggestions (but I didn't already tried them):

    [tmc]
    port="COM,0"
    source="gns"
    gps_source=0

    or

    [tmc]
    saved_config_available="0"

    If you have further suggestions they are very welcome, because I really don't know which kind of changes I have to make on my PDA or in the IGO software to make this TMC option to work...

    Thank you in advance and best regards.

  • I forgot an important information: search on your PDA memory for programs/iGO8 folder. There's the sys.txt, too. You have to put in the command lines there too!

  • In an other community I read that the GPS and TMC channels are mixed. Both send their signals over channel 5. So my solution should work. Please try to change the sys.txt on your PDA, too.

  • Hi

    The suggestion to use the above entries with zero parameters was only an experiment/ a trial to force a search for the GPS device and to avoid a search for the TMC device after disconnecting the TMC receiver/ the Asus cradle.

    This has nothing to do with your problem.

  • Hello,

    I use IGO directly from the SD card (4 GB SDHC), without the autorun option... So I click on IGO8.exe and I have not application.dat.
    In fact I don't have the AUTORUN.EXE file in the '2577' folder on the SD Card.

    But in the root of my PDA is created the IGO folder (with 'content', 'save', 'custom' which all are empty) but I haven't any IGO folder between the Program Files (so I don't have any /programs/IGO)...

    I use the IGO 8.3.2.90500 version. Did you have any idea where can I found the adapted AUTORUN.EXE file, in order to install IGO on my PDA?

    Or did you have any other suggestion how to make work the TMC if IGO isn't installed on the PDA?

    Thanks in advance and best regards.

    I'm afraid, we have to end this discussion. Your version isn't a legal, NNG supported, iGO8 PDA version.

    To carry on this discussion wouldn't be conform to the forum rules.
