    Hallo,

  • Hi Al,

we discussed in the forum about the meaning of the "log mode" setting on WSG-1000, but nobody seems to understand this. Could you kindly explain to us what the settings "User", "Walk", "Bike", "Motor" mean?

Furthermore it is unclear how these device settings relate to those configured via TMX in menu "Device Setting -> Log Setting". How can we interpret the "Condition 1" and "Condition 2" which can be found there in the sub-menus "Heading", "Speed", "Time", "Mix"? Is there a logical AND between these conditions? And does this logical AND span all the sub-menus?

Any explanation would be highly appreciated, the more logical the better:-)

    Kind regards, FD

Willst Du was bestimmtes wissen?

  • Hello Al,

Here's yet another happy WSG-1000 user. I have been playing around with it for the last couple of days and am very much looking forward to my first trip with this thing in my pocket.

I stumbled upon a limitation in TMX that I would like to address:

It seems that there is currently no way of creating new "marks" using TMX. You can only manipulate existing ones.
Now, when I plan a trip I like to put a couple of waypoint markers into my GPS device to have a rough idea where the trip is going to take me. Entering these directly on the WSG-1000 is quite uncomfortable and time consuming.
The ability to go to TMX / Device Settings / G-Trender Only and just click on the map to create a new mark/waypoint would enhance the usability by a great margin.
May I humbly ask you to consider putting this in?

And while I am at it, I have another suggestion that might be worth considering. Would it be possible to introduce the concept of combining several marks/waypoints to a route via a future firmware upgrade? This of course would be the ultimate feature for planning trips - being able to be guided from waypoint to waypoint without having to manually select the next one all the time.

Thanks very much for hearing me out, I would very much appreciate any comment on my requests.

    Best regards from Vienna!
    Bernhard

  • Again I would like to come back to the MGRS-question - any chance that the method described could be implemented?
IMO that would be an inexpensive maximum-gain update of the logger. Much more practical for real field work. Otherwise we finally have to switch to another platform - unfortunately. It is just that 80% of the printed maps we work with, no matter whether they are Russian, US, European or even Chinese have the UTM grid printed out.

    Henri

  • In fact. We are define some condition for walk, bike and motor mode base on our experience.
The user mode is mean you could define by yourself on TMX.

The logger will recored one point while conditions is contented.

You can create a new marks on TMX. But you should connect device first.

I got your idea. We will try in the feature.

P.S. Currently, We are implement track back function in next firmware version. Maybe I can post it on here let everybody test.

    Hi Al,

could you explain this in a little bit more detail? How can we interpret the "Condition 1" and "Condition 2" which can be found in the sub-menus "Heading", "Speed", "Time", "Mix"? Is there a logical AND between these conditions? And does this logical AND span all the sub-menus?

Maybe you have a formal documentation of the logics of these settings? It is coded somehow in the software, so it should also be possible to describe it:-)

    Kind regards, F.D.

    Deutsch (abgekürzt):
    Hallo Al,

  • Hello,

The condition 1 is suited for every log mode.

The condition 2 and 3 just for each log mode .

    for example.
If I selected time mode for log with interval 5 sec. and valid speed range 5 and 100 KMH.
The logger will record every 5 sec if speed between 5 to 100 KMH.

  • Hello,

i can´t find anything with the search-function for this topic.

The wsg-1000 just let me to add coordinates in the decimal-format xx.xxxxx
i think it is better, if you can add coordinates in the format: gg mm.mmm
can this funcion be integrated in a next firmware or is it a no-go?

    thx for your reply
    danke für Antworten....

  • Yes, I'm also in favour of the possibility to switch between the two. Most sites on the internet provide dd° mm' ss.sss''. It should remain possible to switch between the formats using the device itself.

And if a new switch is added, could one also add a switch GPS altitude/Barom. altitude for airplanes?
(Another possibility is an autocalibration every xx minutes like Garmin... ;) )
    -------

  • I would strongly support janjan7777´s proposal. Just one thing to add: A "periodic auto-calibration of the barometric altitude" would not be an alternative to a real GPS altitude logging. In a plane nothing but GPS gives reliable altitude information.

    ----------

  • i am not agree with janjan7777 at all. i would like to get the coordinates like my posting before. janjan7777 would like to get another way for coordinates.

    so simply:

Decimal --> this ist what the g-tender shows tody
DDD MM.MMM --> this is my favorite for geocaching-sites
DDD MM SS.SSS --> this is the favorit of janjan7777

maybe the switch to change the displayed coordinates can be put in the system menu, because i think, that nobody wants to display all three coordinates at one time.

It would be very nice, if somebody can integrate these three coordinates-types!
(for me: DDD MM.MMM is enough ;) )
