First of all sorrie but my german is not that good, so hopefully in english is also ok.
I own a W211 (2002) with a COMAND APS system installed dvd version 4.1. Sometimes this unit is shutting down completely and then comes back on-line after a while. When the unit stalls nothing works anymore, like the power supply is gone. Can anybody pls help me?

Hi Paul,
the 4.1 version unfortunately is a well know "buggy" version causing a lot of problems (like exhausted battery etc.) so you should first update to a newer release like last year introduced V5 or wait for the brandnew 2007 before trying to investigate further error causes.

Thank you for your quick respons. I will try to get hold of an Version 5 Dvd and test the unit. Do I also need to have a bios/firmware flash after this?? Or is this done automaticaly by the MB dealer during the regular service?
Like now when I power up the car it takes about ten minutes before the COMAND comes online, after that it works without problems. The next day the same old story.

Hi Paul,
a firware flash / HU software update is not obligatory for the new navi software, but your HU software is probably rather old (if no updates have been made yet).
What do you mean with "before it comes online"? Grey card after pressing the map key, no possibility to enter a destination or the MB-Star on the screen at startup?

With "before it comes online" I mean the complete unit. It looks like there is no power on the unit, no radio, phone, dvd and navi. The unit is completely "dead". Later on this week unit will be changed by DC (free of charge). Not bad, because the car is already four years old.
