becker 7945 system update

  • Sorry, but i don't speak german.
I made system update of my 7945 to version 3.5.
Unfortunately the CF with maps has a problem and does not work.

So i want to reload old system 1.5.
I turn off radio. I insert old system 1.5 cd but downgrade does not start.
I try also in the system menù "factory reset" but navy ask always for system disk (3.5) to load dialogs.

In old Becker (7820, 4720) there was a combination of key to make system reset.

Someone as some tips to make downgrade?

    Thank to all.

  • Yes you got a problem.
When you got the original becker Cf card, make a call to the Becker hotline.
Their have a solution for this kind of problems.
    Goodluck!

  • MRZAP - If you just got a copy (operating system 3.0 and map data 3.5) from "somewhere" then you might me able to upgrade your navi from 1.5 to 3.0, however, you won't be able to navigate anymore as you can only use an original CF card from Becker (map data), ie. a copy of the map data copied onto a third party compact flash card doesn't work (nor can you use the old CD with map data - OS 3.0 only supports CF card for navigation!).

Hence, if you got an official licence for the 3.0 (with map data 3.5) you should contact Becker directly or talk to your local dealer (the shop where you bought your upgrade).

If you got a copy that is not licenced you indeed have a problem. You could try to reset your navi (check out your manual how to do this - a softcopy of the manual can also be downloaded from Beckers homepage) and then insert the cd with operating system 1.5. Maybe this works.

    Good luck.

  • This was becker answer. It must be a warning for all those want to upgrade.

    Dear Sir

Thank you for your inquiry. It's absolute impossible to use the map data version 1.0 with the system software 3.5 and it's also not possible to downgrade the system. For all our systems was recommended not to downgrade the software. There is no other possibility than to buy the complete software bundle with map data 3.0 and system software 3.5.

  • That's news to me. I had a Becker Traffic Pro 4720 before I purchased the 7949. One time when I upgraded the system vom 7.0 to 8.0 (I think) I was dissatisfied with the quality of map data (it was the time when they used TeleAtlas instead of NavTeq). Anyway.

It wasn't a big deal at all to "reinstall" the version 8.0, ie. to downgrade back to version 7.0 again.

Why should it be different with the new navi system (except they want you to purchase the official package - to avoid having people using "backup" software).

If you really can't downgrade anymore (give it a try - system reset and then insert OS 1.0 / 1.5) then it is something they likely programmed to ensure that people get a licensed / official package. I think, that would be really smart of Becker.
