4150 RS : Need help!

  • Hello,

First sorry for not writing in German... (I'm from Belgium)
I hope it's ok and you'll be able to help me. ;)

I have some problems with my new VDO Dayton MS 4150 RS.

Well, the navigation is way off!

I use the maps that were supplied with the unit... Europe 2003.

Of course, I understand that these maps are not very accurate but still... Even on major highways, the GPS gets lost. It's totally worthless!

I have a good satellite reception however... 5-6 satellites most of the time.

The calculated itinerary seems about right...

So... Is it a problem of calibration?

    What can I do?

Also, do you know the service code for the 4150?

Thanks in advance for your help!

    What do you mean exactly?
Sometimes I have a "Off Road" problem when I set a new destination while driving. After recalculating the system is "Off Road"... I switch it off for more than 60 secounds, which solves this problem.

Within the next weeks there will be a new software for the 4150 RS, maybe this will solve some problems :)

  • Thanks for your answers, guys!

Well, I mean that the GPS position is off...

The 4150 tells me that I'm on this road... while in fact I'm on another one!

Sometimes, it tells me to turn right... But there is no road on the right!

I have tried to 'relocate' using the service code... but so far no luck.

Maybe I have a defective unit?

OK, that has happend once in the same situation as above, new destination while driving. The 4150 thought I was on the parallel road 250m left from my real position. Turning off for 1 minute solved this, but this isn't nice and just a "work-around". I hope the new software will solve this.

  • Thanks... Maybe the calibration of my unit is not correct...

    How can I 'recalibrate' ?

  • As far as I know the calibration works every time (while driving). No need of recalibration for winter-tires and so on. But maybe someone knows a way to reset the 4150.
