  • It's easy to determine which device you have.

    On the linked site by Falk (=> Click) is an input field. Fill this box with the serial number, which can be found on the back of your device and press the button => "Weiter".

    After that you will get the exact answer, what device you have.

    For a proper connection of the device to the PC, an installed "Windows Mobile Device Center" is required. And you will need "Falk Navimanager Classic" too.

    thank you, I will try that, and post the result :thumbup:

  • well...i've tried and I failed...

    the thing is the pc won't recognise the Falk gps keep saying: USB device not recognized.

    I have windows 8.1 64 bits and I've installed Windows Mobile Device Center from this one: drvupdate-amd64.exe.

    But the charge icon from Falk changes when i connect to the pc, strange...

  • ah almost forgot the device is:

    FALK F12 3RD AUSTRIA EDITION

  • Ok, I'll try it on.

    If no "ActiveSyncCoverApp.exe" is present on the device, no communication with the PC can be established. This is mostly the fault. Use the Script from the attached "Zip File". It checks whether the file is still present on the device or not and fixes this bug. Unzip the attached file and copy the contained 3 files on a SD card. Start your F12 with inserted SD card. Use the switch on the bottom of the unit. Pay attention to the messages of the script. (No message means that the device does not boot from the SD card and we have no chance to solve the problem!)

    After using the script, try to connect your Navigation Device with PC again.

    I forgot to write=>
    Requirements for the SD card:

    • 1. maximum 2GB
      2. no SDHC !!!!
  • ok, thanks very much

    I was wonder what kind of SD Card the device will operate...many thanks.

    I will post the result.

  • Hi again

    I did what you said, anda a result was a bit different...

    the first thing that happens after insert the sd card and turn the power on is a window (windows 95/98 style) which says this:

    "ActiveSyncCoverApp.exe is still present on your device. Should the file be copied to the device again?"

    And give yes or no to answer.

    If I say yes than gives the this information: Remove Sd Card and press ok, and then my GPS device works like if it had windows 3.1 or windows 95(i believe is windows CE).

    Than I turned the power off and recconnect to the pc and give me the same error: USB device not recognized.

    If I play with the device when the windows CE is loaded i have access to some features like control panel, windows explorer...

  • Hello! I had no way to respond earlier.
    The script said that the "activesynccoverapp.exe" was still present on your device. So that was not the mistake. Unfortunately I have no other idea what it could be that your Navi is not recognized by PC.

    You wrote that you will update the software and maps of your device. This is possible even without connection to the PC. You can download all required files manually and copy them to the SD card. After that, you are able to copy the files to the flash memory of your F12 by using the Windows Explorer of your Navi .

    It is not as comfortable as with the Navimanager, but it works. If you're interested, I'll tell you the exact procedure.

  • ok, thanks for you answer

    let's do that way, cause i'm running out of ideas, so plase tell me how to do it, thanks.

  • Hello, here we go!
    I do not know which software version is already on your device, but
    the software version FN10.2 is needed strictly for the latest map update.

    If you just have FN10.0, then FN10.1 and FN10.2 must be downloaded.
    If you have already FN10.1, you just need to download FN10.2

    Use the links below:

    http://navimanager.falk.de/FN10/sw/Viper/{28BC056A-7B6B-4B6F-94FF-7FE6AB5F4AE8}.zip => FN10.1
    http://navimanager.falk.de/FN10/patches/Viper/{6C15F474-217B-4244-94D4-B6DB9BCE5A3F}.zip => FN10.2

    Create a new folder on your PC. I suggest, we name this folder => "Update"

    In both archives there is a folder that has the name "anywhere".
    Unzip the downloaded files und copy the content of the folder "anywhere" to folder "update".
    Pay attention to the order!
    First FN10.1, then FN10.2 as second.
    Allow overwriting!

    Do you still have the SD card with the script from the last time?
    Copy the folder "update" to this SD-Card and boot your F12 with inserted card.

    Use file-explorer of your device and copy the content of "Update" (found on storage card) to "My Flash Disk" (root)
    Allow overwriting!

    Maps can be updated in the same way. Unzip each Zipfile and copy the content of the folder "anywhere" to folder "update" too!

    Please notice, that everything you do is at your own risk!!!

  • Well, I must say, everything worked on perfection.

    The software version was already FN10.1.

    The initial message which says that the maps are more than 12 months old it's gone.

    Thank you very much edalbrozar, now I can use my Falk for a few years more. For me it's a good GPS device, underrated.

    Once again thank you and best the luck.
