"links halten" or "links reiten"

  • Hi Guys

About the German files: KeepLeft.wav and KeepRight.wav
    ( in the map \My Flash Disk\navigation\res\de )
Is the lady saying "links halten" or "links reiten" (fahren)
also for "links halten" or "links reiten" (fahren) ?

We in Dutch have both "links halten" and "links reiten"

    thanks
    Werner

    The Lady says "links halten"
"reiten" would be riding on a horse.
What you mean is "links abbiegen" (turn left) which is composed out of links.wav & abbiegen.wav
There is also "halblinks abbiegen" and "scharf links abbiegen" (hlinks.wav & abbiegen.wav and slinks.wav & abbiegen.wav), which mean "turn half left" and "turn sharp left"

"links abbiegen" = bear left in English ....but this is not the problem
and also no problems with the slinks.wav and.....

The wav files in Dutch "links halten" and "links fahren"
.....never mind .....I will changen the file to "links halten" :)

    Thanks

  • Hello Werner,

"links reiten" would establish the off-shore-modus to our Navis in Germany - Joke ;)
Never knew, that "links reiten" in Dutch has the meaning of driving a car ...

"to ride a car" in english means "autofahren" in german.

So "links rijden" means "keep left" or in german "links halten".
(literaly translated, this would mean: "Stop on the left side")

"links afslaan" means "turn left" or in german "links abbiegen"

  • not "stop" but "hold" left site....from the verb To hold
Bare Left = "links abbiegen" or "links afslaan" = Dutch

In Englisch is it "to drive" a car (besturen Dutch)

I do have the file lfahren.wav this means "links rijden" or " Links fahren"

I do have also the file Lhalten.wav this means " links (aan)houden" or "links halten"or "keep left"
