Today I bought a Go 910. Now I read that on 17th April new map versions were released. How do I go about finding out if I have the new maps or old ones on my device ?
Any feedback would be appreciated.

u got the old ones. The new map-version is by now a download only version via tomtom. U will find the map-version when u press the status-bar and then the white box in the right-hand corner. On the next screen the map-version should appear.
There is no official statement by TT when the new maps will be relesed on a Gox10.

thanks for the answer, I found the version checker box on the tomtom home page. So I have the old version. Any reason why I should bring the device back to Mediamarkt and wait for a newer version ? Or is the version I have ok for the average user ?

For the average user it ok.
If u cant live without the newest card i would either pay for the newest downoad-versions or wait till TT will release the GOx10-versions with the new cards. The only problem is, that noone can tell u when this will be....
To make sure if u can "survive" with the old cards, just plan some routes u know. If TT gets the right directions its ok for u. If not....noone can say that with the new release this will be changed

ok, understood. Thanks. Seems like a good enough device. I had bought the Aldi Medion with the famous error, but fixed it with new installation. But After 10 days of it working BRILLIANTLY, it died. Lost all the maps and wouldnt start even after clearing the flash and re-installing 10 times. Got a refund. Shame as it was a great piece of kit.
